Privacy, clearly.
Clara processes your voice to have a conversation. Guest trials do not become long-term memories. Technical records are handled separately, as explained below.
Who is responsible
Clara is operated by Signal Market Intelligence Incorporated, Canada. Our privacy contact handles questions about the collection, use, disclosure and protection of personal information. Email hello@talkclara.com to reach us, including for information about our service providers outside Canada.
What we process and why
- Voice and conversation content. When you start a call and permit microphone access, your audio is sent to hosted speech and conversation services. They transcribe speech, generate a response and produce Clara’s synthetic voice. Audio, text and conversation context are held in working memory to provide the call.
- Trial and security records. Connection details, including your IP address, are processed to connect the call, manage capacity and prevent abuse. Our trial quota stores a keyed hash derived from the address and trial start times. This is a pseudonymous identifier, not anonymous data.
- Operational logs. Services generate records of requests, errors, timing and technical activity to operate and troubleshoot Clara. The voice service currently logs a short excerpt of generated speech. Such excerpts may contain information mentioned in the conversation.
- Correspondence. If you contact us, we process your address and message to respond and handle your request.
What “no saved conversation memory” means
Long-term memory is disabled for guest trials. The trial does not add your conversation to a remembered profile for future calls. This does not mean that all working buffers, service logs or provider records are deleted as soon as the call ends.
Working audio and text buffers may remain until overwritten or cleared by the services. Operational logs are not automatically erased at the end of a call and currently have no fixed automatic deletion period. We retain information only while reasonably needed for the purposes described here or for legal requirements, and review records for deletion when they are no longer needed.
Trial limits use start times from the preceding 24 hours. Older entries stop counting during quota cleanup. The saved quota file is refreshed on a later successful trial admission, so expiry from the quota is not an exact 24-hour disk-deletion guarantee.
Correspondence is kept while needed to resolve the request and any related legal obligations. Infrastructure providers may retain their own operational records under their terms.
Hosting and processing outside Canada
Third-party cloud infrastructure providers process data as needed to host and operate the service.
We use providers for website delivery, GPU hosting and network security. The website and app also request fonts from an external font provider, which receives connection information such as your IP address. Providers may process information outside Canada, where it may be subject to foreign laws and lawful access by authorities.
You can ask our privacy contact for information about our policies and practices concerning service providers outside Canada, including the purposes of that processing. We may also disclose information where permitted or required by law, or with your consent.
Optional support payments
If you choose to support Clara, payment takes place on Stripe’s hosted checkout. Stripe processes the payment and related contact, billing and security information. We receive transaction information through Stripe, including the amount, payment status and any contact details provided, to administer payments, respond to questions and maintain accounting records. Card details are entered on Stripe, not on this website. Stripe’s Privacy policy explains its handling of payment information.
Cookies and browser permissions
The current landing-page code does not use advertising or analytics cookies, or browser storage for tracking. The owner sign-in uses a necessary session cookie. The guest trial requires no account. Infrastructure security features may use technical mechanisms needed to deliver and protect the service.
Microphone permission is separate from cookies. You can end a call at any time and revoke permission in your browser. If you decline microphone access, voice conversation cannot work as intended. We will update this notice and introduce appropriate consent controls before adding optional tracking.
Your information and choices
You may ask to access or correct your personal information, request deletion, or withdraw consent, subject to applicable legal limits. Withdrawing consent may prevent us from providing features that need the information. We may need to verify your identity and may be unable to connect a guest trial to an individual.
Use the contact page for requests or complaints. Please do not include passwords, identity documents or sensitive recordings in your initial message. You may also contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, as applicable.
Protecting information
We use access controls and technical safeguards to protect information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. Please avoid sharing highly sensitive information or information about other people that you are not entitled to disclose.
Changes and future features
This policy covers the landing page and guest trial. Optional one-time support payments are covered above. Accounts and persistent memory are not covered as active public features. We will explain relevant changes before introducing them and update the date above when this policy changes. Where required, we will seek additional consent.
